Below are examples from students at various stages in their academic career. Use these to assist you in determining the level of detail and the type of information that you will need to include in your own Application.

Application Samples from Underclassman

Example 1 - First semester Freshman

Service
I plan to complete the 200 required community service hours during my freshmen and sophomore years. In addition, I will try to complete my community service in the areas of ecology or environmental sustainability. I will document these hours at the end of each semester on ServScript.
International
I am currently studying abroad in Panama, and I am working on the Global Pathways Certificate.
Research
I am a biology major with a plant science track; therefore, I am interested in conducting undergraduate research in the field of botany or ecology. I am currently looking into research opportunities with OUR.

 

Example 2 - Underclassman

Leadership
I am planning on completing the Leadership Certificate. I also wish to engage in leadership though Air Force ROTC which emphasizes both leadership and followership. I plan to complete this requirement by the end of my senior fall semester
Internship
I am searching for an internship to be completed during the summer prior to my senior year. The internship would be recognized by FSU through my major program.
Service
One of the many ways I am helping my community is by pledging Alpha Phi Omega, a co-ed service fraternity. I plan to complete my 200 service hours by my junior year. I will record every service project through ServScript and look for other ways outside APhiO to make a positive impact in my community. Many ways include working with the Center for Leadership and Civic Education and finding other programs to participate in

 

Application Samples from Upperclassmen

Example 1 - Upperclassman

Leadership
From October 2012 until September 2013, I will serve as the Panhellenic Association's Head Rho Gamma, or Head Recruitment Counselor. During Panhellenic Recruitment, Rho Gammas serve as mentors and confidantes to the women participating in the recruitment process. Head Rho Gamma qualifies under Leadership Development. Furthermore, I am currently working on completing my Leadership Certificate for Leadership Education.
Internship
I am currently serving as a Volunteer Intern at Leed's Place Grief and Loss Counseling Center. My position includes office support as well as assisting the Director of Development on sustainable projects. I plan to have my internship approved by the Career Internship Certification Program. I have completed and submitted the Co-op/Intern Student Placement Report (Application), Learning Objectives, and Follow Up Report.
Service
During Fall 2009, Spring 2010, and Fall 2010, I have logged 475.5 hours of community service in ServScript. My service has included but is not limited to fundraising, tutoring, mentoring, and special event planning.

 

Example 2 - Upperclassman

Internship
For the Internship category, I plan to intern this summer with a theatre company called STAGES St. Louis. If I do not get the internship this summer, I will definitely apply to more theatre companies in the following years and receive internship credit through my major program.
International
In order to complete this category I plan to participate in the London Study Abroad program with the School of Theatre. I will most likely do this in the fall of my Junior year for one semester. I also plan to complete an approved intercultural communications course.
Research
I plan to participate in Honors in the Major. I don't know at this point exactly what I want to research, but doing Honors in the Major is something I definitely plan on completing. I plan to present my research at the Undergraduate Research Symposium in Spring 2014.

 

Example 3 - Graduating Senior

Internship
As part of my FSU Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program, I will be required to participate in Field instruction which takes place in a 12-credit-hour field placement in an agency setting. This is scheduled to occur during my last two college terms (Fall 2011/Spring 2012) prior to graduation.
Service
I am currently enrolled in an AmeriCorps Goodwill Goodworks program as a Resource Connector at a local Goodwill Career Training Center. This program requires a minimum of 300 hours of community service through Goodwill. I have currently completed over 130 hours in this program which are documented on ServScript. I plan to document the remaining hours on ServScript this semester.
International
I am currently enrolled in a FSU International Program (DU01). This study abroad program will take place this summer (5-26 May 2011) in Durban, South Africa. I plan to take INR 3931 Applying your Global Experience in Spring 2012.
