Engagement Area Specific Questions: Internship

What are the steps for using my internship for Garnet and Gold Scholar Society recognition?

There are two ways your internship can be given recognition for the purpose of Garnet and Gold Scholar Society: Complete an internship for academic credit OR complete a Career Center Experiential Learning Recognition Program (ECP or ERP). Designate on your Intent to Participate which option you plan to choose and once your Intent is approved, follow the subsequent steps to reflect on your experience.

To complete your reflections you will need to have your Intent to Participate approved and be given access to your personalized GGSS student portal located on myFSU. In the student portal you will designate which of the two options you have or will complete.

For an internship that is completed for academic credit, check the box that states this option in the GGSS student portal and answer the reflection questions located on the page.

If you are in the process of completing a Career Center Experiential Learning Recognition Program (ECP or ERP) you will check the box that states this option and complete program assignments. These assignments include an Application, a Mid-Semester Report, a Self-Evaluation, and a Program Evaluation. If you have further questions about these assignments, contact CC-Gain-Experience@fsu.edu .

What should I put on my Intent to Participate for the Internship Engagement Area?

You should indicate whether you have already interned or if you plan to in the future.

For a past internship, indicate which semester it was done and the company you interned for. Remember, in order to be given credit for previous internships you must have completed ECP or ERP while the internship was taking place OR you must have done an internship for academic credit and be able to show proof of that experience through your academic transcript.

For a future internship, indicate which semester you plan to intern. State whether it will be for academic credit or if you will complete a Career Center Experiential Learning Recognition Program (ECP or ERP).

PLEASE NOTE: You must register for a Career Center Experiential Learning Recognition Program (ECP or ERP) prior to the end of the drop/add period for the semester you complete your internship in order to enroll in the program.

A Career Center Experiential Learning Recognition Program (ECP or ERP) must be completed during your experiential learning opportunity. Career Center Experiential Learning Recognition Program (ECP or ERP) applications are due by the end of drop/add for the semester you are completing your internship.

Do I have to fill out the reflection essays on the Garnet and Gold Scholar Society website if I pursue a Career Center Experiential Learning Recognition Program (ECP or ERP) option?

No. You will complete an Application, a Mid-Semester Report, a Self-Evaluation, and a Program Evaluation through this program in SeminoleLink. Those will count as your reflections for GGSS.

Can I use an internship through the Experiential Recognition Program (ERP) for Garnet and Gold Scholar Society?

Yes. The internship is or will be recorded on your transcript as a non-credit course e.g., ACG3949, ENG3949, CIS3949, etc. You will select the Career Center Experiential Learning Recognition Program (ECP or ERP) option in your Garnet and Gold Scholar Society online portal.

PLEASE NOTE: You must apply for Career Center Experiential Learning Recognition Program (ECP or ERP) prior to the end of the drop/add period for the semester you complete your internship in order to enroll in the program.

What are the deadlines for completing the Experiential Certificate Program (ECP)?

During ECP, you will be required to complete an Application, a Mid-Semester Report, a Self-Evaluation, and a Program Evaluation. You will receive reminders when the deadlines are approaching for each requirement.

Your Supervisor will also be asked to fill out a Student Performance Evaluation at the end of your experience. The Career Center strongly encourages you to discuss this evaluation with your supervisor in order to get constructive feedback regarding your performance.

When you successfully complete all steps of ECP, a Certificate of Completion will be awarded.
